Anthony Wills and his team took a brave step in 2005 by establishing the first new distillery on Islay for 124 years. As others have rushed to join them all across Scotland it looks as if their timing was perfect and they are now a fixture on our shelves well ahead of the new craft distillers. Their commitment to the vision of the self-sufficiency of a farm distillery is admirable too, with more than a quarter of their spirit made from local barley grown on this magical island.
Their bottlings saw early speculation on the secondary market - much to the owners disappointment - but now it has settled down to become a drinkers malt, beloved of those that respect brilliant taste and the vision of those with big dreams.
