The Proud History Of Scotch Whisky
Scotland has a long and storied history of making whisky with the first written evidence of it appearing in 1494, although it is thought that whisky was being produced long before that. Since then Scotland has pioneered the art of whisky making gaining praise around the world.
To protect the good name of Scotch whisky and to ensure the high standards that have been set are adhered to there are several laws that must be followed in order to make Scotch whisky - with the main point stating it can only be made in Scotland. Currently there are only five different kinds of whisky that can be made in Scotland; Single malt, Single Grain, Blended Malt, Blended Grain and Blended Whisky (a mixture of malts and grains).
